Home Studio Puzzle Solved
Remember how I told you what a winner Chris is. There is not a game he can’t master, and so on. Well there’s not a studio he can’t put together.

"This part looks important"

Tighten this and we're done
He did it! He has been working all morning getting the equipment hooked up and all put together and Wallah! He is actually recording himself! Now I know we aren’t exactly breaking new ground here, but it makes me think of Alexander Graham Bell. Those first few recorded words of Chris’ may not live in infamy, but we will always remember them. How excited Mr. Bell must have been.

"Come quickly Emilee... I need you"
Stormy
Frazzled was an understatement when Chris walked in the house and told me the monsoon toppled our tree in the front yard. My first thought was, “but I’ve done everything that I know how to do”. I fertilized, trimmed, and moved the waterlines out to get the roots to go deep. But all my thought and care wasn’t enough for the little tree now dubbed “Stormy”.
But in all things God is demonstrating Himself. Stormy looked great above ground. Even with everything I tried to make Stormy grow big and strong, his roots just kept wrapping around themselves. They couldn’t break through the hard ground. And so it is with us. God showers us with everything we need, but even if we look great and all together on the outside, if we stay wrapped up in ourselves, the winds and storms of life will topple us. The dry spells we go through can be very difficult, but if we persevere and break through the hard ground, we will be stronger for it.
We have a God who knows when we need watering and when we need pruning. When we need comforting and when we need to go through some hardening off. Trust Him and be thankful in all things.
Mother-In-Law
Over the course of your life, you will put on many hats. I like to refer to this more as slipping on many pairs of shoes. Initially we start off life wearing our “baby” shoes. It is during those first few formidable years, we become known to someone as “friend” and we start learning how to walk in someone else’s. We will wear the comfy shoes of cousin, classmate, or neighbor. Then the romantic shoes of fiance, husband, or wife.
There are some less comfortable shoes like the shoes of co-worker, or supervisor, but no shoes have the potential to pinch like putting on the “In-Law” shoes. You guessed it – I am now a Mother-in-law. I have very recently put on those shoes, and boy are they big shoes to fill. So I am thinking of going back to the story of Naomi and Ruth. Even though mine is a son-in-law, I’m thinking there HAS TO be some grains of truth as to how Naomi and Ruth developed such a loving in-law relationship. Particularly how Naomi related to Ruth.
A few days ago, Chris- in his loving wisdom- pointed out that you can rearrange the letters in the word “Mother-in Law” to spell “Woman Hitler”. OK. That can be funny, but it did give me food for thought. In all relationships, there is a potential to build up – like Naomi – or to tear down. So with all the wisdom God will give me I start down this road in my new shoes resting in the promise that His grace will be sufficient – even for me.
Home Studio Under Construction
Chris and I have a deal, He makes the phone calls and kills bugs while I do the light handy work around the house. It’s a great system. This week we have been preparing to put a studio in our spare room. This is exciting not only because it will increase the quality of the show while at the same time save the ministry money, it also makes for a lot more flexibility. But all those benefits won’t come without some work.
First, we had to empty out the entire room which so far means all the useless stuff in the spare room has made its way to the living room for everyone to step over. After we had the countertop installed, the next 3 days consisted of sanding, staining, sanding, varnishing, sanding, varnishing, and sanding again before the third and final coat of varnish.

Finishing Touches
Thankfully, the mornings are now cool enough to work with the windows wide open. And since it is after Sept. 15th, I was able to do the finishing work to the cheerfully-smooth Christmas sounds of Josh Grobin, Johnny Mathis, and Casting Crowns. (Another little deal Chris & I have)
So the counter is done, and while I have a wonderful sense of accomplishment, the room has a way to go before it’s a full blown studio.

Oh What a Feeling, When You're Working on the Ceiling
Sermon – “Where Can I Go to Meet God?”
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday’s shows (September 23rd, 24th & 25th) we have been playing parts of a message that Chris gave last May entitled, “Where Can I Go to Meet God?” Here is the entire message that you can enjoy here:

Game Quest
Chris is a winner! Literally. There is not a sport my husband can’t play, a game he can’t master, a mystery he can’t solve. Our family really likes to play board games. In fact, every Christmas, since the kids were small, we would put a new board game under the tree. Over the years however, there are certain boxes that remain on the shelf in our closet because rather than drag the game out and then put it all back again, we simply declare dad the winner and ask what else we should play.
I have always considered myself apply coordinated, capable and I enjoy a little competition. So what is it that I am unable to beat Chris in a game. There was only 1 thing I was ever able to beat him in and that was King’s Corner. I say WAS because with time he too mastered the strategy and the odds are always 50/50 and thus is about as exciting as tic-tac-toe.
One of our family’s favorite games is “Settlers of Catan”. No one has ever won – except for Chris. We now call him “King of Catan”. And don’t get me started on pool. I have played entire games without sinking one ball. So I think I shall play a little game of my own. I am hence forth on a quest which only I can complete. It is a quest to find a game at which I can beat Chris.
Ozzie
Our cat, Ozzie, is a big old Tom. He has always had an overzealous appetite, but today he has hit a new high. Normally, the morning routine is something like this:
Alarm goes off.
Aaah, the smell of coffee wafting from the kitchen.
I open the bedroom door and am immediately greeted with an enthusiastic, “Meow”.
As rub my eyes and give my robe a final cinch, we exchange pleasantries.
“Mornin’ Oz.”
“MEOW.”
As we head down the stairs, battling one another for footing, the meows become more intense with each stair step.
The moment my foot hits the tile floor of the kitchen Ozzie cuts loose.
“MEEEEOOOOWWW!”
It hardly sounds feline anymore. And the only break is the breath he takes between his pitiful pleas for food.
I make a direct line to the laundry room to fill his dish with high hopes that this morning I can pour faster than he can shove his head in his bowl, which inevitably sends kibbles across the floor.
But this morning, Ozzie didn’t seem quite himself. Our usual morning conversation seemed a little more laid back. Is Ozzie mellowing with age? Is he feeling okay? My question was quickly answered when I got to the laundry room. I went to pour out some kitty kibble when I noticed the bag was shredded. Which is amazing when you consider Ozzie has no front claws! Apparently Ozzie had had enough of my slothful morning ways and decided to help himself.
I don’t know for sure if this is a good thing or not that Ozzie has become so self-sufficient. But one thing is for sure – my cat is a PIG!
Jamie Slocum Concert August 29, 2009
Alive Church in Oro Valley hosted the kick-off concert for Chris & Emilee’s new radio and speaking ministry, BecauseIBelieve.net. Song Writer, Producer and Christian Musical Artist Jamie Slocum headlined the event. Up and coming Christian Artist Mollye Rees also performed and of course, the Danielson Family.
Hannah Danielson started the evening on keyboards. That was followed by Chris and Emilee with some joking around and then a few minutes of stand-up comedy with Chris and then his son Jake. Emilee then returned with a devotional followed by the new song by Mollye Rees, “Morning Always Comes.” Chris then came back with a devotional of his own. Then it was time for Jamie Slocum to take the stage for the remainder of the night. Here are a few pictures from a wonderful evening of fun and ministry:
